I still suck at shmup but I disagree about your final opinion I think the difficulty makes this game as fun as it should and I actually kinda dislike the PS4 arrange modes and I found them real boring outside of the purple one. WL is brutal and I could agree there but BL is a great time. still subbed!

I love this sort of cinematic shooter! Rtype was my first love in the genre and I can't have enough of it and its spawn. It's quite interesting that, given the success of the main saga, most (if not all) of its offspring are hidden, underappreciated gems. And don't get me started with Pulstar. God I adore that game.

Yeah and sadly Mushihimesama is delisted on the eShop glad i was able to get it while it was available would lovd to see Live Wire port Mushihimesama Futari Ibara Pink Sweets and Muchi Muchi Pork i doubt it will happen but it would be awesome

Is the slowdown mentioned also present in the ps4 version?

This game would have looked just like this and been around 1GB 20 years ago, minus some lighting effects. but at 15.6GB, it is not worth the space lol

TechnoSoft must be huge Macross fans, 'cuz I am seeing a lot of Macross in Hyper Duel from the transformeing fighter jet mecha to the overall premise.

Was the Switch version improved with patches? It doesn't seem too tremendously awful, although it helps that I only paid $12.49 for it in a recent sale. I wish the game was a bit more manageable, but even if you don't understand the play mechanics, it's super fun to play. Platinum did this series justice.

R-Type Final seems cool albeit very different, but Final 2 just looks kinda mid idk.

As a mobile phone player, I absolutely LOVE the iOS ports of the Cave shmups. I‘d argue that touch screen controls are the most precise input method for the genre. I just love the micro-precision. Happy to see you covered the iOS version in this great video, and liking it as well. DaiOuJou aka Blissful Death - to me - is perfect. While I initially preferred Resurrection as well, DaiOuJou grew on me, and I think there is no other shmup with a better pacing and better difficulty curve out there. Resurrection‘s last stage is simply a little too long and too annoying. Anyways, thanks for this very informative video!

The truxton games I never had a chance to play until they were rereleased on all those retro arcade compilations they briefly released in the arcade at Dave n busters and other places. Was tough as nails and I'm surprised I never got a chance to play it until then considering shooters were all I played in the arcades besides fighting games and beat em ups

I’m here in 2024 checking this game out since the Xbox 360 store is closing in 3 weeks. So sad. I can always find a nice informative Bullet Heaven to see if a game is worth my time and money.

I absolutely LOVE the Saseiroku Arrange, especially the arrange of Strange Dance.

Ngl, I really feel that this game was rushed so bad. Though I still like the character designs of some characters like Mao Mao or the Twin Russian girls. The gameplay for me is so meh. If AVGN reviewed this, he will probably say that the game is crap.

The first Tatsujin/Truxton I cleared a loop in was the PC Engine version a few years before 1 loop of the arcade version. Always loved the PC Engine music the most out of all of the versions. P.S. Whenever Truxton Extreme releases in the future, I presume you're gonna dive on that? I plan on making it a day 1 purchase cause I gotta know!
